The Alta Rocca Museum

10,000 years of history in one place

In the heart of the Corsican mountains, the Alta Rocca Museum invites you to take a journey through 10,000 years of human occupation in Corsica. Archaeology, palaeo-ethnography and history come together here to retrace the daily lives of the people of the Alta Rocca, from the 8th millennium BC to the Middle Ages.

An exceptional collection

With more than 60 sites excavated and 200 sites listedThe region is a hotbed of island archaeology. The museum presents unique pieces and precious metals, including :

  • The skeleton of the Lady of Bonifaciothe oldest known woman in Corsica
  • Remains of animals that are now extinct, such as the prolagus
  • La atypical crockery de Curacchiaghju (Levie)
  • Tools made from local or imported stone
  • Bronze ornaments, including the famous Corsican fibulaan emblem of the craftsmanship of yesteryear
