Just outside the village of l'Ospedale at an altitude of 900 metres, on the outskirts of Zonza, on a clear day the site offers a magnificent view of the Gulf of Porto-Vecchio, 30 km away.
If you want to get away from the city and the seaside, the climb to the Col de l'Ospédale is absolutely perfect. Apart from its demanding gradient, the road to reach it winds happily between forest and rocky eminences in a beautiful chromatic harmony. After passing through the village that gave its name to the pass because of the hospital that used to be located there many years ago, the landscape opens up to reveal, on a clear day, a spectacular view of the bay of Porto Vecchio. If you're prepared to walk a few metres further, you'll come to the shores of Lake Ospédale, where you can relax before heading back down.
