Useful information

Commissioned in early 2010, this modern facility plays a strategic role in the production of renewable electricity. It supplies a hydroelectric power station capable of covering a significant proportion of the island's energy needs, while helping to secure the Corsican grid, which has historically been fragile during periods of high demand.

The Rizzanese dam is one of Corsica's main hydroelectric dams, often cited as the fourth largest. Its underground power station harnesses the power of stored water to produce low-carbon energy, thereby contributing to Corsica's energy transition.

As well as providing energy, the dam helps to regulate the flow of the Rizzanese, limiting the effects of winter flooding and supporting low water levels in dry periods. This function is particularly valuable in a region subject to strong seasonal variations.

Set against a backdrop of mountains, scrubland and forests, the site offers spectacular scenery typical of the Alta Rocca region. Although mainly technical, the work is set in a remarkable natural environment, much appreciated by nature lovers and photographers alike.

Between technological performance and respect for the territory, the Rizzanese dam embodies the desire to develop sustainable infrastructure adapted to the specific characteristics of Corsica.
