Useful information

The region's religious heritage is distinguished by the diversity of its places of worship and the richness of their traditions.

The Monastery of the Assunta Gloriosa, occupied by the nuns of Bethlehem, the Assumption and Saint Bruno, is a recent building with modern, refined architecture. The chapel is open all day, including liturgical services. A picturesque footpath leads from the monastery to Canella beach, which takes around 1h15. The monastery also sells high-quality monastic crafts: hand-painted earthenware, essential oils, balms, herbal teas, jams, honey, gingerbread, desert star biscuits, candles and sacred art including statues, crosses, icons, cots, illuminations, cards, rosaries and Bibles. Liturgical celebrations are held here regularly: masses from Monday to Sunday according to a precise calendar, and vespers during the week and at weekends. The exhibition and sale is open from Monday to Saturday, with opening times to suit visitors.

The church of Saint Pierre de Sari, restored in the mid-19ᵉ century, is the result of a collective effort by the inhabitants. Built from the stones of the former chapel, it retains a bell tower added later. Every 29 June, the patronal feast of Saint Pierre precedes that of Saint Paul in Solenzara, allowing the inhabitants of the two villages to meet and celebrate their solidarity.

The church of Saint Paul in Solenzara has an original history: in the XIXᵉ century, a stable for horses transporting wood was transformed into a place of worship, with the addition of the bell tower in 1920 and the raising of the roof in 1970. The feast of Saint Paul, celebrated on 30 June, marks the completion of the festivities that begin the day before in Sari.

These three sites offer a comprehensive overview of the local religious heritage, combining history, architecture, festive traditions and living spirituality.
