Useful information

A place of remembrance, spirituality and culture in the Alta Rocca :

Perched above the village of Sainte-Lucie-de-Tallano, in the Alta Rocca region, the Convent of Saint-François is a place steeped in history, silence and beauty. Founded in the 15th century, it overlooks the Rizzanese valley and offers an exceptional panoramic view of the surrounding mountains, between sky, stone and scrubland.

Built at the request of the Lords of La Rocca, the convent is one of the oldest Franciscan buildings in Corsica. It was a major spiritual, educational and social centre in the region for several centuries. The Friars Minor lived, prayed, taught and accompanied the local population through the major stages of life.

Today, even though the monks have left, the convent retains its soul and symbolic power. Its sober, typically Franciscan architecture, its uncluttered façade, its cloister opening onto the valley, and its peaceful church make this a unique place, conducive to contemplation and meditation.

The Couvent Saint-François is also a place of cultural transmission. Since the reconstruction of a ruined wing, the media library has been hosting exhibitions, concerts, conferences and meetings, in a spirit of openness, exchange and appreciation of our heritage. Every stone tells a story, and every event brings this emblematic site of the Alta Rocca back to life.
