Concert by the MERIDIANU group at Saint-Paul church in Solenzara
Style of music: Corsican polyphonies
For the past twenty-five years, Meridianu has been bringing the Corsican polyphonic tradition to life through a repertoire combining traditional Corsican songs with creations inspired by the island's history, spirituality and light. Heirs to the Corsican polyphonic tradition, the group has chosen to turn this heritage into a living word rather than a frozen memory.
Over the past twenty-five years, Meridianu has performed in Corsica, on the mainland and abroad, in churches, festivals and cultural venues. As a trio, polyphony unfolds in all its fullness, in the balance of harmonies and the collective power of shared singing. In the duet «Alma di quì», performed by Jean-Antoine Orticoni and Marc De Lanfranchi, the voice takes centre stage, delicately supported by the guitars.
In trio and duo, Meridianu pursue the same quest: to preserve and transmit the Corsican soul as a living presence.
