Style of music: Corsican polyphonies

L'Alba's music, timeless and open to the world, unfolds with strength and finesse, creating moments of true grace. For over ten years, L'Alba has been reviving the somewhat forgotten instrumental tradition of island bands, while evolving it towards a more contemporary style. In this way, L'Alba has restored the island to its rightful place in the musical landscape, while preserving the heritage of polyphonic voices. In its latest concept album, GRILLI, L'Alba presents its vision of Corsican music, integrating its identity and influences. Using the text I GRILLI as a matrix, the album creates an immersive experience with interconnected songs. Polyphony is at the heart of the work, following in the footsteps of the previous album À PRINCIPIU. The sequences retain the inspiration of the island, blending past tales with «Corsican cabaret song» style compositions. The project features a large female cast and prestigious guests, while allowing for multiple interpretations thanks to a choice of words rich in nuance. GRILLI, meaning «crickets» in Corsican, marks a new departure.
