Castellu d'Araghju

A short hike - less than 2km round trip - leads to the prehistoric site, which rises in a straight line through rock and vegetation. The "castellu" looks like a fortified circular enclosure 40 metres in diameter with two monumental entrances covered in large slabs, from which you can enjoy a superb view of the coast.

Casteddu d'Araghju
Situated at the eastern end of the municipality of San Gavinu di Carbini, the hamlet of Araghju is best reached from Porto Vecchio via the N198. The complex takes the form of a fortified circular enclosure 40 metres in diameter, 2 to 10 metres wide and sometimes more than 4 metres high, with two monumental entrances covered in large flagstones.
To reach the site (which is free to visit), from the entrance to the hamlet of Araghju and its car park, follow a path which, after crossing a small stream, rises almost in a straight line, regularly among the rocks and vegetation.
