In the heart of the Corsican mountains, the Alta Rocca Museum<\/a><\/strong> invites you to take a journey through 10,000 years of human occupation<\/strong> in Corsica. Archaeology, palaeo-ethnography and history come together here to retrace the daily lives of the people of the Alta Rocca, from the 8th millennium BC to the Middle Ages<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An exceptional collection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

With more than 60 sites excavated<\/strong> and 200 sites listed<\/strong>The region is a hotbed of island archaeology. The museum presents unique pieces<\/strong> and precious metals, including :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • The skeleton of the Lady of Bonifacio<\/strong>the oldest known woman in Corsica<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Remains of animals that are now extinct, such as the prolagus<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • La atypical crockery<\/strong> de Curacchiaghju (Levie)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Tools made from local or imported stone<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Bronze ornaments, including the famous Corsican fibula<\/strong>an emblem of the craftsmanship of yesteryear
