Protestant temple in Aullene
At the beginning of the 20th century, Corsican society was deeply divided by the laws separating Church and State. The Protestant temple in Aullène bears witness to the quarrels between the Republican mayor and the Bonapartist priest.
Wishing to escape Calvin's politico-religious ambitions, the mayor converted to Protestantism, followed by a few partisan villagers. A pastor from the continent answered the call of Calvin's new followers. Brother Reboul arrived in Aullène on 20 September 1903, opening a religious interlude that lasted ten years before rapidly falling into disuse at the start of the Great War.
"Calchì volta, a vita pulitica di i paesi era scuzzulata da bischizzi. L'iniziu di u vintesimu seculu opponi tandu i partigiani d'una sucità laica à l'aghjenti di a Ghjesgia, a battaglia trà u merri è u curatu d'Auddè n'hè statu un asempiu."

Saint Nicolas Church
The parish church dedicated to Saint Nicolas was built in the early 19th century, and its architecture is similar to that of other villages in the Haut-Taravo and Alta-Rocca regions. The building contains a wealth of furnishings from the same period: the polished marble baptismal font, the wooden stalls and tabernacle. One of the most remarkable features is the pulpit, which is supported by four winged dolphins and rests on a console in the shape of a Negro mask. These sculptures are said to ward off the threat of the barbarians, who invaded the coasts and inland areas until the 17th century.
Less than a kilometre from the church, high up in the village, is the chapel dedicated to Aullène's patron saint. Saint Antioch is celebrated by the village community on the first Sunday in August, a day of religious celebrations and festivities. The Saint Antioche d'Aullène fair, which still exists today, was one of the most important livestock fairs in Corsica until the Second World War.
«Dopu à a fiera di u Niolu l'ottu di sittembri, quissa hè a siconda è a più bedda sicondi l'auddaninchi, chì duranti a Sant'Antioccu ci era monda ghjenti vinuti à cumprà l'animali, i vindiani i boii, i vacchi è dopu i cavadda, i muli, ci era tuttu!»

Statue of Diana the Huntress
Commissioned by Vincent Santarelli, who was mayor of the village at the time, this statue of liberty was unveiled on 14 June 1882. Another example can be seen in the Place de Carme in Olinda, Brazil.
Topping the village fountain, this statue is the symbol of the legalistic Republic led by Jules Ferry and Gambetta in the 1880s. It is a female allegory embodying the moderate values of the Republican movement: Law, Order and Justice.
Her attributes are those of the goddess Minerva: a calm and serene woman wearing a Greek peplos, carrying a spear and helmet. Her crown, made of ears of wheat, is surmounted by a five-pointed star, a sign of intelligence and wisdom. This headdress replaced the traditional Phrygian cap, which at the time was associated with revolutionary socialist movements.
